Issues such as what steps should be included in a mentoring program, what is the difference between this and other related development methodologies (coaching, training, etc.), what roles can mentors and mentees play, rate what skills and/or competencies a good mentor must develop or what mentoring models can I use, are some of the matters addressed in this opened type of workshop, in a fully dynamic and experiential way.

Effective Mentoring Program Planning workshop

The success or failure of a mentoring initiative depends primarily on the planning process itself.

Whether you want to launch a program for the first time or revise an existing one in order to improve, you need to answer some questions beforehand, including:

Do all members of my organization / team / program have a precise and shared definition of what mentoring is?

What are the expectations that the different stakeholders have from the program (mentors, mentees, managers, HR and business area sponsors)?

Do the participants and the stakeholders fully understand their role in the program?

Did the main stakeholders agree a specific framework for the program and the objectives of the mentoring relationship?

How will the ROI of the program be measured? What success metrics will be used?

What is the EMPP Workshop

This workshop is a strategic session led by an expert consultant, in which stakeholders will answer specific key questions for the success of mentoring as a business strategy, and thus:

Acquire expert advice on the critical factors of success of any mentoring program, and how to avoid mistakes

Define a Mentoring Project Proposal (Business Case) to position it strategically and measure its success

The EMPP Workshop® allows you define:

The business objectives specific to your program

The required tasks in order to run every aspect of it

Success metrics based on your goals

Mentor Skills Assessment workshop

Knowing what is the level of preparation of the mentors that you select for your processes is key if you want to establish a meaningful learning relationship between mentors and mentees. It is not enough that you select someone solely on the basis of their expertise, seniority or hierarchical level to occupy in your organization. In fact this is one of the most common mistakes that cause the derailment of a mentoring program.

To the extent that mentoring is primarily a learning relationship between two or more people, mentoring involves mastering a set of competencies –both skills and attitudes- that facilitate the creation of an environment of reflection, security and confidence so that the learning is effective.

Some people naturally have the necessary skills to become effective mentors. However, they do not always have the same level of development in all areas, and they are not trained from the beginning to act as effective mentors.

Being aware of the level of ability that people in your mentor group ”start with", allows you to:

Identify key gaps in their training as mentors

Design a training plan aligned with the training needs of each individual

Select specific mentoring skills to be developed

Know who may or may not finally be able to exercise their role as mentors

Have a talent map to allow program managers to provide the proper support and monitoring

IMS offers you specialized consultants in the Assessment and Measurement of Mentoring Skills. We design, based on your mentoring needs, processes to asses the Mentors´abilities in order to diagnose and evaluate their training level, thus offering you the necessary recommendations in order to ensure the success of their training.

The success of a mentoring program is based on the level of planning
and on the powers of its protagonists
